Attention Applications must be at least 18 years of age
Attention Both applicants must be present at the time of application with a valid driver's license or a state identification card, for proof of residency, identity, and date of birth
Attention If either person has been divorced within 6 months prior to application, that person must have a certified copy of the divorce decree, signed and dated, with a judge's signature
Attention If at least one of the applicants in a resident of LaPorte County, the fee is $18.00, payable in cash only
Attention If both applicants are out of state, the fee is $60, payable in cash only. You must be married in LaPorte County, Indiana, if you are both out of state
Attention If both applicants are Indiana residents, but live outside of LaPorte County, they must go to the county in which they live
Attention Once the license is obtained, Indiana residents may be married anywhere in the state. The records will be recorded in whatever county you applied in
Attention If the couple is being married in another state, they must go to that state, and follow that state's requirements
AttentionThe license is valid for 60 days, and can be used the same day it is applied for. There is no waiting period
Attention Judges are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM with an appointment.The Circuit Clerk will marry on the weekends and eveings.No fee is required, but donations are accepted and appreciated

Apply for a Marriage License

To be married in the State of Indiana, a couple must have a marriage license. To apply for a marriage license in Indiana, both you and your future spouse must appear in person at the Clerk's Office in an Indiana county where one of you resides, or for non-residents in the Indiana county where the marriage will be solemnized.
